KernelTrap.org has begun an Article Sponsorship Program, providing a discussion forum for businesses, organizations and individuals that contribute to kernel development. The program is a win-win situation, allowing those involved to generate interest in their efforts and providing readers with easy and free access to useful information.

To join the program, sign up with jeremy@kerneltrap.org. In exchange for contributing an article once a month, your logo and other information will be displayed to an ever growing number of interested and educated readers. Read on for full details.

Specifics:

To participate in KernelTrap.org's Article Sponsorship Program, you will need to commit to providing a 1,000 - 2,000 word article (plus diagrams and/or pictures as appropriate) for at least three consecutive months. The topics covered must be about or related to kernel development, typically related to your own contributions. Please note that the articles must be useful and informational rather than being simply an advertisement.

You retain the copyright on all content that you submit on the condition that KernelTrap.org gets exclusive rights for two weeks, and afterward KernelTrap.org may forever continue to freely distribute the information in any format. In this way it is possible for you to do whatever you like with the article after it has been published on KernelTrap.org, such as republishing it on your own site or in a print magazine, or turning it into product documentation.

The articles will be posted to KernelTrap.org's front page, together with your logo. At the end of the article will be a brief writeup on your business or organization, and links to your official website. Additionally, each contributor to the Article Sponsorship Program will have a unique webpage within KernelTrap.org listing all submitted articles, information about the business or organization, and brief biographies of all contributing authors.

KernelTrap.org reserves the right to edit all submissions. KernelTrap.org reserves the right to determine if a contributed article is appropriate and if it will or will not be posted.

Readership:

KernelTrap.org is a steadily growing web community, comprised primarily of intelligent, educated and technical readers, many contributing to kernel development themselves.

In December of 2003 our website received an average of 22,205 visitors per day, displaying an average of 107,074 pages per day. In addition to KernelTrap.org's regular readers, the site receives frequent links from other popular websites such as SlashDot, OS News, and Linux Today. This provides assurance that the articles you sponsor and contribute will reach a large and diverse audience.

FAQ:

Why would we post stories on KernelTrap.org when we could post them to our own web page instead?

KernelTrap.org is a well established, diverse, and continually growing web community. By sharing your articles here, you will reach a wider audience and help to enrichen the free software and open source communities. Also remember that you retain the copyright on any content you submit, and therefore after two weeks of it being published on KernelTrap.org you are free to use your writing in any way you see fit.

I do not have an official business, but I am hard at work contributing to the development of a kernel. Can I participate in this sponsorship program?

Absolutely. In exchange for articles meeting the above requirements we will provide links to your project home page and a description of the work you are doing, helping to increase the exposure of your efforts.

How much does it cost?

The Article Sponsorship Program is free. Essentially, we are offering advertisement and exposure in exchange for quality content.
